1754-1763. The French Indian War was one of a series of wars between the British and French. The French and the British were both struggling to capture and hold land from each other. Earlier, back in Europe, the French and the British were already having bitter conflict. The French controlled the fur trade in North America, but the British wanted to take that away from the French.

The French and the Native Americans made an alliance. The Native Americans teamed up with the French because they were scared that the British would soon take control of the land that they lived on.

In the end, the British and the French made a treaty. It was called the Peace Treaty of 1763, and concluded that the British gained control of most of the French land in North America.
